First National Bank Arena Prepares for Fall Semester with New Upgrades
JONESBORO – As the fall semester begins at Arkansas State University, First National Bank Arena (FNBA) is welcoming fans with several upgrades designed to enhance the experience for attendees.
The arena underwent improvements throughout the summer, including new indoor lighting that creates a brighter atmosphere and allows for light shows during events.
"We have added new lighting inside the arena that allows for a brighter atmosphere as well as a new capability to run light shows. We have already been able to use these features during A-State volleyball matches and we have seen how it has created a unique and exciting experience for the fans,” said Will Chamberlin, FNBA marketing director.
This comes as the arena gets ready to welcome country music artist Parker McCollum at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17. Red Clay Strays will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, following a performance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden.
Fans will also notice improvements outside the arena, like new lighting around the parking lots designed to improve visibility and help attendees navigate the area.
“We have also added new outdoor lighting around the parking lots which contributes to promoting a safe and inviting environment. Safety is our top priority and we always want to be able to blend safety and security while still enhancing a patron’s experience,” said Rod Saavedra, FNBA director.
The Red Wolves volleyball team also received an upgrade to its playing surface during the summer, with a new court completed in time for the start of the season.
“We have also added a new court surface specifically designed for volleyball matches. This cushioned, state-of-the-art surface allows for safer conditions for the players as well as a fresh new look for the fans,” said Chamberlin.
Chamberlin said he is excited for the Red Wolves and concert seasons to get underway and for fans to experience the new light shows and court surface.
