College of Agriculture Announces Top Graduating Students for 2025-26

The College of Agriculture recognized its outstanding students for the 2025-26 academic year during Convocation of Scholars.

JONESBORO – The College of Agriculture at Arkansas State University recognized its outstanding students for the 2025-26 academic year during Convocation of Scholars, according to Dr. Mickey Latour, dean.

The Chancellor’s Scholar Award for the highest overall GPA in the college was presented to Lexus Hagood of Harviell, Mo., who is receiving a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) degree with a major in animal science.

The Outstanding Graduating Senior awards were presented as follows:

— Hunter Mitchell of Jonesboro, BSA, agricultural business;

— Ella Wise of Romance, BSA, agricultural education;

— Paiton Burgess of Bay, BSA, agricultural studies;

— Lexus Hagood of Harviell, Mo., BSA, animal science; and

— Jackson Shopher of Bradford, BSA, plant and soil science.

Jennifer Hinojosa of Augusta won the award as the most outstanding graduate student. She is completing a Master of Science in Agriculture (MSA) with a concentration in plant and soil science.

The Olen P. Nail Outstanding Junior Award was presented to Lindsey Lancaster of Malden, Mo., who is majoring in agricultural business. 

The Dr. Ed Brown Award, named in memory of a faculty member who died earlier this year, was awarded to Sowmya Thadisina of Hyderabad, India.
