A-State ‘s Shooting Sports Club Takes Awards in Trapshooting Championships

Arkansas State University’s Shooting Sports Club recently won several awards in the AIM Grand National Trapshooting Championships.

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University’s Shooting Sports Club recently won several awards in the AIM Grand National Trapshooting Championships, held at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta, Ill.

This is the largest trapshooting event of the year hosting thousands of the best youth shooters from across the country.

The A-State club achieved an impressive score of 981/1000, placing them as the runner-up squad in A class, as well as tied for fourth place in the entire Junior Gold age category.

Club members Cole Cureton of Cash and Hunter Walpole of Bono also won individual trophies in the Handicap Championship, Singles Championship, and High All Around Championship.

Other team members are Jackson Parks of Jonesboro, Lucas Primm of Waldenburg and Henry Mahan of Paragould. The faculty adviser is Dr. John Mello.
