A-State and GOJO Partner, Offering Free Rides for University Community

As the fall semester gets underway at Arkansas State University, one may notice GOJO buses around campus. The buses operate in partnership with the university, serving students, faculty and staff throughout campus and Jonesboro.

JONESBORO – As the fall semester gets underway at Arkansas State University, one may notice GOJO buses around campus. The buses operate in partnership with the university, serving students, faculty and staff throughout campus and Jonesboro.

“GOJO and A-State are proudly partnering together to provide free rides all over Jonesboro to A-State students, faculty and staff. Our two on-campus routes, Red Wolves 1 and 2, provide constant transportation around campus and connect with the rest of Jonesboro’s public transit routes,” said Lee Wells, director of GOJO.

The bus routes serve campus and surrounding areas, providing A-State students, faculty and staff with free access to any route using their A-State ID.

“This ever-growing partnership allows students, faculty and staff to reliably navigate to Jonesboro’s many restaurants, stores and entertainment free of charge,” said Ryan Brasher, GOJO marketing coordinator.

GOJO will also offer transportation services on football game days through the Red Wolves Express. This service will allow fans to avoid the hassle of searching for a parking space and ride to the game, with drop-off and pick-up in front of the stadium entrance.

“Transportation service will begin two hours before kickoff and continue until kickoff. We will resume service at halftime and continue until 30 minutes after the final whistle. Parking is available downtown at the free parking lot on Cate Avenue at Church Street, and we will also have stops on campus, including at the Yard restaurant,” Wells said.

Wells said the service will begin with the first home football game of the season, which kicks off Saturday, Sept. 12, with a concert ahead of the game.

“We are also excited to offer service for the Lauren Alaina concert beginning two hours before the start of the event,” Wells said.

During game days, A-State students and employees, as well as children younger than six, ride for free. Adults 18 and older pay $4 round trip, or $2 each way. Riders younger than 18, seniors and passengers with disabilities can ride for $1.

Season passes are $20 per person, or $10 for City of Jonesboro employees, students younger than 18, seniors, passengers with disabilities and veterans.

Individual round-trip tickets and passes can be purchased in advance at the Jonesboro Municipal Building, City Collector’s Office, 300 S. Church St. Riders may pay their one-way fare as they board the trolley; no season passes will be sold on the bus.

The buses also operated during move-in, allowing students and their parents to park their cars and board the bus for a short ride to their residence halls. The service helped alleviate traffic around the busy pedestrian area during move-in.
