Dr. Lonnie Williams Receives Distinguished Service Award at National Association of Student Personnel Administrators reception
Dr. Lonnie R. Williams, associate vice chancellor for student affairs at Arkansas State University, has received the “2012 Division of Student Affairs Distinguished Service Award,” at the annual awards reception hosted at the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) conference in Phoenix, Ariz., March 10-14.
The Division of Student Affairs at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville began recognizing former staff members or alumni for outstanding contributions to the student affairs/higher education profession two years ago.
In presenting the award to Dr. Williams, Dr. Daniel Pugh, Sr., vice provost for student affairs/dean of students at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville stated, “Your leadership and contributions to student affairs continue to inspire and make a difference in the lives of faculty, staff, and students, and has been an invaluable force in moving the profession forward.”
Dr. Williams has been with Arkansas State University for almost nine years as associate vice chancellor for student affairs. He holds four degrees from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville and worked there for 27 years prior to coming to Arkansas State.
Prior recipients include Dr. Cheryl Lovell, former chief academic officer for the Colorado Department of Higher Education and Professor of Higher Education at the University of Denver and Dr. James Conneelly, vice chancellor for student affairs at Eastern Kentucky University, who was recently selected as the first male president of the Notre Dame University of Maryland.
