Dean B. Ellis Library To Host 5K Run/Walk To Benefit Literacy

JONESBORO – The Dean B. Ellis Library at Arkansas State University is hosting a 5K
Run/Walk for Leap for Literacy, Saturday, Oct. 24, at 9 a.m. The event begins and
ends at the library parking lot, 322 University Loop Circle.
Proceeds will go to the Literacy League of Craighead, Greene and Poinsett counties.
The league provides free one-on-one tutoring to local adults wanting to improve math
and reading skills, including the 20,000-plus regional residents who cannot read or
write.
Registration cost for the race is $25, with race-day registration available for $30
for adults and $25 for youths. Packet pickup begins at 7 a.m. The first 200 participants
will receive a t-shirt and goody bag.
All participants are eligible for prize drawings donated by local businesses. Top
runners and walkers, as well as the winner of a costume contest, will receive prizes.

organization that works to increase awareness and student engagements regarding volunteer
opportunities in the community and region, will be on hand.
