ASU Museum celebrates the birthday of Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) by participating in the Read Across America campaign March 3
In recognition of the birthday of Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss), the Arkansas State University Museum hosts “Read Across America,”Saturday, March 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The ASU Museum is located at 320 University Loop West Circle, Jonesboro, in the west wing of the Dean B. Ellis Library. The “Read Across America” celebration will be held in ASU Museum’s Family Reading Castle room, located near the Atrium. This is a free event and open to children of all ages. With the recent closure of Caraway Road, the ASU Museum is best accessed by taking Aggie Road off Stadium Boulevard, followed by a left on University Loop East, and continuing around the south perimeter of campus to the south parking lot directly south of the museum, or by taking University Loop East directly off Johnson Avenue and following it to the south parking lot.
Where does Oobleck come from? How many things can you do with your eyes shut? On Saturday, March 3, beginning at 10:30 a.m., join the party as we read "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" and "I can read with My Eyes Shut," both by Dr. Seuss.
Kids will learn more about Oobleck as they make their own ooey gooey Oobleck. Afterwards, they’ll see how easy (or hard) it is to play Seuss-like games…with their eyes shut! The party will conclude in the Museum’s theatre with the big screen showing of Dr. Seuss’s beloved story, “The Lorax.”
Visit the ASU Museum online, or like the museum onFacebook. Regular museum hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday.
