ASU CECO offers Adult Mini College experience June 17-21

The experience, offered by ASU’s Continuing Education and Community Outreach (CECO) program, runs from June 17-21 (Monday through Friday) from 8:30 a.m.-noon. Registration fee is $59. There is also an accommodation option that includes tuition and five nights on campus for $169.

“Participants can be rejuvenated through a series of interactive lectures from A-State’s faculty on the ASU campus in a true mini-college experience,” said Dr. Beverly Boals Gilbert, dean of Continuing Education and Community Outreach. “It’s a learning experience that you won’t forget. It will enlighten, inspire, encourage and challenge during this week-long, one-of-a kind event.”

The mini-college schedule includes “Fostering the Brand Called You,” “i-College,” “Managing Political Behavior in Organizations,’ “Personal Finance,” “iConnect Video Documentary,” “Engineering a Cloak of Invisibility,” “Understanding Media of the 21st Center,” “iCollege, Part II,” “Arkansas Biosciences Institute (ABI): Pushing the Envelope of Science and Technology,” “Visual Culture: It’s Ubiquitous. Learn to Swim,” “Preserving Our Arkansas Delta Heritage,” “What is Nano Technology?” “Geography and World Culture,” “Aquatic Ecosystems,” “Planning Preparedness and Emergency Management,” and “iPad Wrap-Up and Graduation.”

Instructors who will be teaching the courses include Dr. Holly Hall, assistant professor of journalism; Daniel Kopp, director of distance education; Dr. Faye Cochiarra, associate professor of management; Dr. Philip Tew, associate professor of finance; Dr. Brandon Kemp, assistant professor of electrical engineering; Dr. Osabuohien Amienya, chairman of radio-TV department, director of broadcasting and professor of Radio-TV; Rodney S. Harris, ABI outreach coordinator; Dr. Susan Whiteland, assistant professor art education; Dr. Ruth Hawkins, director of Arkansas Heritage Sites; Paige Creed, ASU museum tour coordinator; Sandra Hawkins, instructor in teacher educations; Jacob Sawyer, adjunct instructor of biology; Brent Cox, assistant professor of disaster preparedness emergency management.
