About Dr. Cameron Wimpy
Dr. Cameron Wimpy is associate professor of political science and chair of Government, Law & Policy at Arkansas State University. Since 2022, he has also served as the founding director of the Institute for Rural Initiatives (IRI), and he is an affiliate faculty with the Arkansas Biosciences Institute (ABI).
Dr. Wimpy's work has been published in Administration & Society, Georgetown University Press, Journal of Election Administration Research & Practice, Journal of Policy Studies, Journal of Politics, Nature: Scientific Data, Political Science Research and Methods, Springer Nature, Social Science Quarterly, and other scholarly outlets. He has presented at numerous national and international forums, and he regularly appears on newscasts, podcasts, and webinars related to election administration. His work has been funded by internal A-State grants, the Arkansas Biosciences Institute, CDC, Election Trust Initiative, MIT, Rutgers, and others.
Dr. Wimpy formerly served as the Research Director in the MIT Election Data and Science Lab, where he managed applied research on the scientific study of elections. He was previously an affiliate faculty member with the Harvard Institute for Quantitative Social Science. He grew up on Crowley’s Ridge in the Arkansas Delta.
