What are the library hours?

Does the library have public phones?
The library has one public phone located on the main floor which may be used to make on-campus calls only.

Where can I write a paper?
All computers in the library have the current version of Microsoft Office installed on them. Additionally, computers with Microsoft Office are located in the Information & Technology Services computer lab located on the first floor, just inside the South entrance to the building.   Students should use their MyCampus username and password to login to the computers where prompted (firstname.lastname).

Does the library have scanners?
The library has two free scanners on the main floor. The scanners can scan books, journals and individual items and either save them to an USB jumpdrive or email them.

Does the library have a fax machine?
The library does not have a fax machine. Anyone needing to fax something can do so at the bookstore in the Student Union for a fee.

Does the library have Macs?
The library does not have any Macs. The Information & Technology Services computer lab located on the first floor does have Macs for student use.

The library does not have any typewriters.

Does the library have videos and DVDs?
DVDs are located on the main floor of the library. VHS videos are located in storage and can be requested at the Service Desk.

Does the library have textbooks being used in A-State courses?
While the library may occasionally have a textbook that is being used in an A-State course, as a general rule textbooks are not ordered for the library.

Does the library have any audiobooks?
CD audiobooks are located on the main floor. The McNaughton Audiobook collection is located near the Service Desk. There is also another audiobook collection located near the DVDs.

How do I access databases from off-campus?
Students currently enrolled in courses for credit through A-State Jonesboro are entitled to full access privileges to the online databases available through our website. When you attempt to access the databases from off-campus, you will be prompted to enter your MyCampus username and password (firstname.lastname). Full instructions are located on the off-campus login screen. If you have problems with off-campus access, contact Wendy Crist by email or phone (870) 972-2964. Must I be an A-State student or employee to use the library?
Members of the community are welcome to use the library and may also check out materials if they sign up for a Community Borrowers Card.  For more information see the Access & Delivery Services Policies page.

May I borrow materials if I am not an A-State student or employee?
Yes, community borrowers may check out two items at a time once they have done the paperwork and been approved as a Community Borrower. For more information see the Access & Delivery Services Policies page.

How many items can students check out?
Undergraduates may check out 20 books for 30 days.
Graduate students may check out a maximum of 40 items at a time for a 45 day loan period. For more information see the Access & Delivery Services Policies page.

How do I obtain books and articles if they are not available at Ellis Library?
If Ellis Library does not have print or electronic access to books and articles, they may be obtained through our Interlibrary Loan service.  For more information, see the Interlibrary Loan Department webpage

How do I request materials for the library?

How do I renew materials?
General Collection books may be renewed twice, unless another patron has requested the book. You must renew the books before the due date. You can renew the books through the online catalog by calling up your personal record and indicating which item(s) to renew. After clicking on the "Renew Items" button, verify the new due date, and report any problems to the Service Desk as soon as possible. Books from the General Collection may also be brought to the Service Desk and renewed. Once you have used up your two renewals, you must physically bring the books in to check them back out. How do I see what I have checked out?
You may check your library record by going to the library homepage and clicking on the My Library Account" link or clicking on it from within the library catalog.

Where can I find items put on reserve by my instructor?
When an instructor places items on reserve, they are kept behind the Service Desk on the 2nd floor of the Library.   Go to the Service Desk and give your instructor's name.

Where can I find an atlas?
The atlases are located at the end of the Reference Collection, across from office 227.

How do I find a legal case?
You can find legal cases in both online and print formats.  Online cases are found using the article database WestLaw. A variety of reference books in the Legal Reference Stacks will also give you legal cases. For assistance locating and using any of the legal resources, contact the Service Desk at 870-972-3208, visit the desk on the 2nd floor of the library, or email the desk at refdesk@astate.edu

The library staff will assist in legal research and locating tax forms, however we will not provide any legal or tax advice.
