Why did you choose to study at A-State? My friend recommended me to apply to this university. It is an appropriate place for studying. It has an excellent school for studying Public Administration, which NASPAA accredits. A-State has a good community for international students. It is a supportive, family-like atmosphere that helps students thrive and that has been one of the keys to my ongoing success.

What were you hoping to gain from joining our English as a Second Language program? I aimed to learn English from native speakers and build a solid foundation to succeed in a master’s program.

What do you believe is the best part of our English Learning Academy? One of the most remarkable features of ELA is preparing students to be academically qualified to join the school. During a student’s period of English-language study, the ELA focuses on the skills of effective communication in debates, discussions, and presentations, skills for analyzing academic texts in greater detail, skills for effective academic writing, and skills for understanding academic texts and lectures.

Why would you recommend A-State’s English Learning Academy to others? Home away from Home – this could express my experience in the ELA. Teachers and administrative assistants in the international office warmly welcomed us. They have adequate knowledge of the needs of international students.

Why did you choose to study at A-State? I have two very good friends and they are A-State students. Through the communication and introduction with them, I became very interested in A-State. In the end, I decided to study at A-State, and I met very professional teachers and friendly classmates here.

What were you hoping to gain from joining our English as a Second Language program? English is one of the official international languages, so we should learn English as a second language. This way we can not only improve our capabilities but also learn more about the cultures of different countries.

What do you believe is the best part of our English Learning Academy? I think the best part of English Learning Academy is the form of learning and class. The English Learning Academy has many activities in class to help us learn English. In fact, English is a language, so we should learn and exercise English in activities and daily life.

Why would you recommend A-State’s English Learning Academy to others? First of all, A-State’s English Learning Academy has many interesting activities every week. These activities can help us learn English better. Secondly, there is a very friendly and professional team of teachers. Third, here you can make friends from different countries and learn about different cultures.

Why did you choose to study at A-State? I incidentally came to know A-State through my agency. The school has a proud academic record in America. Moreover, the school has many incentives for international students, especially international students from Vietnam. Currently, I am a freshman in Marketing, and I am very happy that I am one of the members of the A-State community.

What were you hoping to gain from joining our English as a Second Language program? I hoped I could improve my English a lot when joining the ESL program, especially listening and reading skills. Currently, I am a freshman in Marketing, and I feel that my English skills have taken a huge step forward. If you met me in the early days of 2020 and then again now, you might be very surprised at my current English skills.

What do you believe is the best part of our English Learning Academy? One thing I really like about the ESL program is that you don't just study regular academic English like any other English course. Here, you also learn a lot of soft skills that help you succeed when studying at all universities in the U.S., such as presentation skills, computer typing skills, reading skills, writing response skills. In my opinion, this is one of the greatest features of this program.

Why would you recommend A-State’s English Learning Academy to others? As an international student who studied abroad and participated in many English courses before (nearly 10 different courses), yes, I would recommend this program. For me, the ESL program at A-State is one of the best courses I have ever taken. The enthusiastic and friendly teachers are always ready to help me during my studies. An interesting point is that when taking English classes here, you will be using advanced learning software all of the time. As I mentioned above, you will learn a lot of useful soft skills while participating in ESL program. And more, you can use A-State's main library when learning English here.

Why did you choose to study at A-State? I chose Arkansas State University because of tuition. The tuition fee at A-State is more affordable than other schools in the United States. Also, A-State provides international students with the opportunity to get some scholarships, so this opportunity motivated me to maintain a high GPA to get a scholarship.

What were you hoping to gain from joining our English as a Second Language program? I was hoping that not only would I meet new friends, but that also my English skills would improve significantly. You might be able to study grammar yourself, but you need the help of a native and professional teacher to improve your speaking skills. In the class, teachers provide a lot of speaking opportunities so that will help you to learn practical English. In addition, one of my teachers provided extra pronunciation instruction to motivated students after class. It helped me to refine my speaking skills.

What do you believe is the best part of our English Learning Academy? The best part of participating in the ELA is the thorough support students have. They taught me not only English language but also other skills to succeed in A-State. Those tips I learned at ELA have sometimes greatly helped my college life. For instance, the way to write an essay in the American style that was not taught at a high school in my country.

Why would you recommend A-State’s English Learning Academy to others? I highly recommend the ELA at A-State because all teachers don't just work to improve students' English skills; they support them in the hope that students will succeed in A-State. Do not miss the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing experience!
