Welcome to Arkansas State University!

Transition Studies

Transition Studies provides a warm and supportive environment for a successful transition to the University and is the academic home for students whose test scores and high school grade-point average indicate that they should be admitted to the university but do not meet the requirements for unconditional admission to Arkansas State.  First-year international students are also a part of TS providing these students with resources and assistance in navigating not only the university, but also understanding the culture of the community and region as well.

Housed in the Learning Commons in the Ellis Library, TS students have easy access to the STEM lab, writing center, general education tutoring as well as intensive advising services provided by the faculty/academic coaches and staff of the Transition Studies department.

Admission Criteria Through Transition Studies

Students may be admitted to A-State through Transition Studies if they have a composite of 19 on the ACT or an equivalent score on SAT or Asset and a minimum high school grade point average of a 2.3.

Our Mission

We offer academic instruction that prepares students for college level work, and extensive advising and mentoring that fosters student responsibility and self-sufficiency to ensure a successful transition into the collegiate environment.
