Center for Excellence in Education
Created in 1992, The Center for Excellence in Education offers the Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership, which provides the highest professional degree available in the field of education to students who aspire to administrative careers. Each doctoral student is expected to complete the comprehensive examination requirement and conduct a major research project resulting in the presentation and defense of a dissertation.
Health, Physical Education and Sports Sciences
The Department of Health, Physical Education, and Sport Sciences is to provide curricula and instruction to enhance the development of physical, mental, social, and emotional qualities essential for living a quality life and to provide quality professional preparation programs in the fields of athletic training, exercise science, health, physical education and sport management that meet appropriate standards.
Psychology and Counseling
The Department of Psychology and Counseling is committed to serving the university, the profession, and the public by contributing to excellence in education, high professional standards for service delivery, and consumer advocacy. The department is also committed to research and scholarly activities to expand the academic knowledge base and to improve the quality of professional services.
School of Teacher Education and Leadership
The School of Teacher Education and Leadership at Arkansas State University offers a wide array of undergraduate and graduate degrees and programs to serve today’s aspiring educators and educator-leaders. All programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator preparation. All programs that lead to earning a certificate by Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) are fully approved by the State Board of Education. ADE accredits all teacher certification programs at A-State. Recognizing the need for flexibility combined with quality, many of these programs are hybrid or completely online.
