Frisson Winds Will Perform in A-State Lecture-Concert Series

JONESBORO – The Lecture-Concert Series at Arkansas State University will present Frisson Winds in concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 13, in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr. Admission is free.

Frisson Winds features the brilliant wind musicians of the explosive group Frisson, according to Dr. Ed Owen, chair of A-State’s Lecture-Concert Committee. These virtuoso wind players perform a wide variety of music for winds in various combinations, as well as programs of music for piano and winds.

Group members are Anna Urrey, flute; Tom Gallant, oboe; Bixby Kennedy, clarinet; and Rémy Taghavi, bassoon.

Concerts feature trios, quartets and quintets performing works by composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Francaix, Poulenc, William Grant Still, Valerie Coleman, Gershwin and Paquito d’Rivera.

Frisson features the best and brightest of classical music’s stars and the group showcases emerging young artists as well as seasoned professionals. In just a few seasons the group has skyrocketed to become one of the leading classical music groups in the field.

The members of Frisson all have impressive biographies and many have performed at such prestigious venues as the Aspen Music Festival, Marlboro Festival, and Ravinia Festivals as well as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall.

Admission is free to this and all events in the Lecture-Concert Series, which serves A-State and the surrounding communities by bringing notable guest speakers and performers of diverse backgrounds and wide appeal to the campus.
