A-State Students to Host Food Pantry Open House Sept. 30
JONESBORO – Volunteer A-State and the Student Government Association at Arkansas State University are hosting a Food Pantry Open House, Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 3-5 p.m., at the pantry’s new site, the Volunteer A-State Center, 2907 East Johnson (former soccer facility).
The Food Pantry was created in February 2015 by the Student Government Association (SGA) in partnership with Volunteer A-State, and will serve anyone with a current A-State identification card. Hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday and Thursday, beginning Monday, Oct. 5.
Several student organizations are hosting canned food drives to stock shelves. In addition, Volunteer A-State is seeking student groups or other campus partners to assist with canned food collection. Also, canned foods or other items may be dropped off at the pantry during operating hours or by contacting pantry@AState.edu.
Student volunteers staff the Food Pantry, and Volunteer A-State is seeking students to help at the pantry during operating hours or to help stock shelves.
