Biography

Mrs. Herring’s nursing career began in her senior year of high school with the completion of the Certified Nurse Assistance course in 2000 from Kennett Vocational School. She then continued her education at Southeast Missouri State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2005. While at Southeast Missouri State University, she was on the Dean’s List and the Department Hiring Committee. After graduation, she started her career in the hospital, where she worked in the following areas: Medical-Surgical and Cardiac. After leaving the hospital, she continued her nursing career in home care nursing, where she got her first experience teaching CPR to company employees. In addition to teaching in-home care, she held several leadership positions, but ultimately, her goal was to be in education. She started her academic career at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri as a Nursing Instructor in the Associate Degree Program. While in that position for eight years, she was active in the department, serving on numerous departmental committees and as the student
organization Student Nurses Association (SNA) advisor. While at Three Rivers College, she started working towards a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri. She completed her degree in 2018 and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. Mrs. Herring started her current position as an Assistant Professor at Arkansas State University in the fall of 2023. She teaches in the traditional BSN and 2nd Degree Accelerated BSN programs.
