Residence Hall Internet at A-State


  • General wired connection methods in Residential Halls

    The following information is wired instructions for: Arkansas Hall, Collegiate Park, Honors 1-4, Kays Hall, North Park Quads, Pack Place, Red Wolf Den, ROTC, STEM, The Circle, The Village, and University Hall.

    For all devices such as laptops, game consoles, printers, etc. use the following to connect via Ethernet:

    *Please note that at this time Google devices will not work with our current environment

    1. From a laptop, smartphone, or tablet already connected navigate to https://resnetportal.astate.edu
    2. Click “Devices” in the top right-hand corner
    3. Now enter the MAC address of the device. NOTE: if you are adding a gaming console, check the "Public IP" box before clicking the "add" button.
    4. Now that your device is registered your device should now be connected.
    5. In some cases, you may need to restart your device after adding it to ResNet.
  • General wireless connection methods in Residential Halls

    The following information is wireless instructions for: Arkansas Hall, Collegiate Park, Honors 1-4, Kays Hall, North Park Quads, Pack Place, Red Wolf Den, ROTC, STEM, The Circle, The Village, and University Hall.

    For all laptops, smartphones, and tablets – Connect to AstateSecure.

    For all other devices, such as Smart TVs, game consoles, AppleTVs, Rokus, printers, Amazon devices, etc. use the following to connect to AstateOnboard:

    1. From a laptop, smartphone, or tablet already connected navigate to https://resnetportal.astate.edu
    2. Click “Devices” in the top right-hand corner 
    3. Enter the MAC address of your device. NOTE: if you are adding a gaming console, check the "Public IP" box before clicking the "add" button.
    4. Now that your device is registered that device should now be able to get to the internet as well as be discovered by your other devices.
    5. In some cases, you may need to restart your device after adding it to ResNet.
  • Sorority Housing

    The following information is for the Sorority houses. Use these instructions for wireless connectivity: 

    • For all laptops, smartphones, and tablets – Connect to AstateSecure. AstateSecure will prompt for a username and password. Please use your AState username and password to connect to this network. Please accept or trust any certificates if your device prompts you.
    • For all other devices, such as Smart TVs, game consoles, AppleTVs, Rokus, Amazon devices, etc. - Connect to AstateGuest. AstateGuest does not require a username and the password is "WoLfguest1!" (no quotes). We do not recommend printers on this network as they will be able to be discovered anywhere on the wireless network.
  • NYIT Students

    NYIT students, throughout the connection process you will be using your Astate credentials. If you need help acquiring your Astate credentials please contact the ITS HelpDesk at 870-972-3933 or follow this link https://webapps.astate.edu/digitalid/campusid.htm


If your device is not listed, please refer to the generic instructions.
How are you connecting this device?

  1. From a laptop, smartphone, or tablet that you have already connected to "AstateSecure", navigate to https://resnetportal.astate.edu.
    This is the online portal that you will use to register all of your other devices.
  2. You should see that it has auto-logged you into the portal. Click the "Devices" link in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Now enter the MAC address (some devices call this the WiFi Address, Note: make sure you use your wireless MAC address) of the device you want added to your personal network and click the "add" button.
    • If you don't know how to find the MAC address of your device, click the "Help me find my MAC address" link on the resnet portal webpage.
    • If your device is not listed, try a Google search like "find mac address [device name]".
  4. Now that your device is registered, plug it into the data port in your room. This device should now be able to get to the internet as well as be discovered by your other devices.
  5. It may be beneficial to reboot your device after this process if it does not connect automatically.
  6. Just a reminder that any devices you add to your portal will only be able to communicate with the internet and any other device that has been set up on your individual portal.

Please connect phones and tablets to the "A-State Secure" network.

Use your A-State username and password to connect to this network.

  1. From your Home screen, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Turn on Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap AstateSecure.
  4. EAP Method needs to be set to PEAP.
  5. Enter your A-State username (Identity) and password.
  6. Don’t Validate the certificate
  7. Tap Connect.

Please connect phones and tablets to the "A-State Secure" network.

Use your A-State username and password to connect to this network.

  1. From your Home screen, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Turn on Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap AstateSecure.
  4. Enter your A-State username and password.
  5. Tap Join
  6. Trust the certificate

  1. Plug the specified device into the provided data port.
  2. Using a web browser, visit https://resnetportal.astate.edu.
  3. Login with your Arkansas state university credentials.
  4. Once logged in, it should now state you are connected.

When connecting wirelessly, please connect laptops & desktops to the "A-State Secure" network.

Use your A-State username and password to connect to this network.

  1. Click Wifi icon () in the menu bar.
  2. Click AstateSecure.
  3. Enter your A-State username and password.
  4. Click Join.

  3. Login with your Arkansas state university credentials.
  4. Once logged in, it should now state you are connected.

  1. Click the Network icon in the taskbar.
  2. Click AstateSecure and then click Connect.
  3. Enter your A-State username and password.
  4. Click Next.
  5. You should now be connected.

  1. In the bottom right, click the time.
  2. Click Not Connected.
  3. Turn on Wi-Fi.
  4. Select AstateSecure.
  5. Enter your A-State username and password.
  6. EAP Method needs to be set to PEAP.
  7. Phase 2 Authentication needs to be set to MSCHAPV2.
  8. Click Connect.
