  • Advising

Advising is a shared responsibility between the student, advisor and college community designed to help students grow individually, succeed academically, and to develop an appropriate educational plan leading to graduation with a focus on their life beyond the University. The University acknowledges its obligation to provide students with accurate and timely academic advising, delivered through its academic departments, colleges, and other units devoted to specific student populations.

Every student is assigned an academic advisor to assist in their academic choices and career decisions. Advisors are assigned to a student by the academic department of their chosen major.

IMPORTANT!It is important to monitor your student email as this is the way your academic advisor will contact you. Prior to each course start your academic advisor will send you a course listing of courses for you to take in the upcoming 7-week term.

  • Financial Aid & Payments

Financial assistance may be available to participants in the Academic Partnerships program in the form of Student Loans. To begin the financial aid process you should:

    1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online.
      • Indicate 001090 as your school code on the FAFSA.
    2. Complete the A-State admission process for the Academic Partnerships program.
    3. Register for at least three degree-seeking hours as a Graduate level student and six degree-seeking hours as an undergraduate level student each semester.
    4. Monitor your A-State email account for further instructions from the A-State Financial Aid Office. Students can also monitor their progress by checking their Financial Aid Checklist located online via myCampus under the Self-Service Banner-Financial Aid option.

Students should allow up to 4-6 weeks for the financial aid process to be completed. Financial Aid will disburse one week before courses start. Refunds will be disbursed one week after courses start.

Students will not be allowed to begin their course even if the financial aid process is in progress. You must pay for your course by the tuition deadline even if your financial aid has not arrived. No exceptions can be made to this policy.

Note: In accordance with federal financial aid guidelines, students in a Certification Only Program of Study are considered non-degree seeking candidates rather than degree-seeking candidates and are, therefore, ineligible for financial aid.

For more information about our Financial Aid, please visit the A-State Financial Aid and Scholarships website. Also, the A-State Online Financial Aid Policy is available to view online as well.
