Activate '14

This year the Honors College is shaking things up in a new and creative way! HCA has worked hard to bring together Honors freshmen for an event designed to assist them in getting plugged in. Activate '14 is an overnight experience that will include free food, music, interactive games, and tips to succeed in college offered by current Honors students. The event is free for Honors freshmen to attend and interested students must pre-register to participate. Please see the details below for more information.  End Welcome Week with a bang at Activate '14!

What is Activate ’14?

A unique overnight, interactive experience for Honors freshmen only, with games, food, music, inflatables, and more!

Why should I attend Activate ’14?

Honors freshmen that attend the event will be mentored by current Honors students who have successfully completed at least one year of college; therefore, you get the inside scoop on best habits and practices for success in college.  You will also have an opportunity to interact with many of your Honors peers in all different majors and from all different backgrounds. Free food, games, and activities…need we say more?!

Where is Activate ’14 and how do I get there?

The event will be held at Grandslam Entertainment (50 County Road 792 Brookland, AR) and students will be carpooling all together leaving from Grillin’ on the Grass at approximately 8:30 pm.

When can I expect to be done with Activate ’14 activities?

The event will end at 7:00 am Saturday, August 23rd and all participants will be released.

What will I need to bring for Activate ’14 activities?

A great attitude and a willingness to meet and get to know others is a great start.  Other than that, you may choose to bring a pillow and blanket to lounge around during group activities and sleep (for the weak!).  We recommend comfortable clothes for activities and socks for the inflatables.  HCA has planned snacks, beverages and a late-night meal for participants, but if there is something you know you can’t live without, feel free to bring it with you! It is not expected that you bring anything else.  There is no place to shower (and you will only be there for 10 hours), so please leave all toiletries at home.
