International Partnerships

Bakshair Pedagogical University, Russia

The partnership with Bakshair Pedagogical University started by Dr. Khramstova in Psychology and Counseling is being implemented this semester.  Two faculty members and 4 graduate students will be traveling to Russia for 10 days.  While there, faculty members will present workshops in their field of expertise and the graduates students will be observing and learning about the Russian educational system. 

European Psychology Tour

Led by Dr. Pierce from Psychology and Counseling, 10 students and community members will spend two weeks traveling through various European cities to learn about the historical and influential people in the field of psychology. 

University of Belize, Belize

The purpose of this initiative, led by Dr. Jacques Singleton, is to create a partnership with the College of Education at the University of Belize.  The multifaceted partnership focuses on helping provide special education training for current and future teachers in Belize.  Dr. Singleton, who had received a grant to do some workshops in Belize, is currently working with the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Belize to plan for the Dean’s to visit our campus shortly.  During her visit here we hope to iron out the details of our partnership.

Via University College, Denmark

After many years of being a member of ETEN, we were able to establish a partnership with Via University College thanks in large parts to the efforts of Dr. McGregor.  The goal of this partnership is to exchange student teachers and faculty.

London Sports Management Tour

Led by Dr. Claudia Benavides, students in the sports management program will travel to London for two weeks to visit various sporting facilities and agencies. 

Chaminade University, Hawaii

The partnership with Chaminade University allows for the exchange of student teachers to conduct student teaching in Hawaii public schools as well have interns from the sports management and administration program.  We are also working with them to jointly offer a couple of graduate programs.  Chaminade University is working with us to find host families for our students. 

St. Louis & Sacred Hearts, Hawaii

The partnership centers around the St. Louis & Scared Hearts PK-12 schools in Honolulu, Hawaii. The partnership provides the two week opportunity for student teachers in their spring senior year internship to travel and learn from Hawaiian educators.

Japan

This partnership involves the Nettleton school district, College of Education of Ehime University, as well a school district in Fukuoka prefecture in Japan.   These partnerships allow for exchange of faculty, students, scholarship opportunities as well as create opportunities for middle and high school students, teachers and administrators.  School district in Fukuoka prefecture is working with us to find host families for our students.

Miyako, Japan

This partnership centers around the Miyako, Japan school district.  The partnership provides the two week opportunity for student teachers in their spring senior year internship to travel and learn from Japanese educators. The Miyako partnership additionally offers the rich experience living with a Japanese host family.

Sweden

Mrs. Agneta Sibrava is working towards having physical education students teachers conduct their students teaching experience at Viken Skolan school in Hoganas, Sweden.  She has arranged for a host family to host students who are interested in participating in this program. 

Church Teacher’s College, Jamaica

Dr. Natalie Johnson-Leslie has been working with Church Teacher’s College to offer our Masters in Education Special Education program in Jamaica.  Our goal is to create a program in which all students from Jamaica take our courses online in the fall and spring semester and then our faculty go to Jamaica during the summer to teach courses.
