Pre-Press, Press and Post-Press

3-Part Workflow 

Our workflow at ASU Printing Services consists of three main areas:


Pre-Press

The steps required to turn a design into final form, ready for final printing on a printing press. May include preflight, color correction, color trapping, imposition, color separation, proofing, and imagesetting.
 

Press

The process that transfers to paper or another substrate an image from an original such as a film negative or positive, electronic memory, stencil, die or plate.
 

Post Press

This area includes trimming, folding, binding, and all other finishing operations.


  • Pre-Press

    Heidelberg Pro-Setter 74 & Raptor PRO 68 Plate Setter CTP System

    This technology allows for the delivery of digital data directly to a plate for printing. CTP efficiency eliminates conventional films, significantly reducing prepress materials and costs and creates significant productivity benefits over other commercial printing solutions.

    HP DesignJet 5500 Wide Format Printer

    Excellent for B/W and full-color proofing jobs and printing posters (in small quanities) up to 42" x any length in size.

    Macintosh G5

    This Macintosh deskktop computer system is equiped with all the required software, like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, QuarkXPress, and other design software in order to produce a commerically printed product.

    Linotype-Hell Scanner

    Allows to convert a printed document into digital form, which can then be used in the digital prepress workflow.

    laminator

    GBC-Titan 110 Laminator

    It provides an asthetic and protective layer to a wide format printed product, in order to improve its durability.

    ManRoland 200 4-Color Press - Offset Printing Press

    This state of the art 4-color ManRoland-200 is a 13,000 sph, 20x29-inch format sheetfed offset printing press. It produces superb print quality with great color consistency. The press handles a wide range of stocks from "bible" paper to 0.032-inch board.

    News King - Web Printing Press

    Prints 4/1 color or 2/2 color settings. Press that prints from rolls of paper, usually cutting it into sheets after printing.

    This 2-color Printmaster QM 46 is ideally suited for small-format offset printing. It provides ideal conditions for ensuring outstanding print quality, from business cards all the way up to 18" posters with minimum make-ready.

    MBO Folder T-49

    A bindery machine dedicated to folding printed materials. The machine can also be used in scoring, creasing, and perforation.

    Müller Martini Presto - Saddle Stitcher

    The Muller Martini Presto is a semi-automated siddle-stitching machine, produces high quality bound-products at the maximum rated speed of 9,000 copies per hour. It is excellent for binding multiple pages document in sizes as big as tabloid.

    Polar 92 EMC - Cutter/Trimmer

    A high-speed cutter delivers excellent finish products with great efficiency and capable of storing 99 different cutting programs and 1024 functions in its memory for future use.
