Bouldin is PI for NSF Instrumentation Grant Bouldin is PI for NSF Instrumentation Grant

Congratulations to Dr. Jennifer Bouldin, professor of environmental biology and dean, Beck College of Sciences and Mathematics, who is principal investigator on a $719,800 grant from the National Science Foundation. The award will be used to acquire specialized equipment to advance research initiatives on campus. The team that secured the award also includes co-PIs Orithea Regn, Dr. Sarah Webb, Dr. Fabricio Medina-Bolivar and Dr. Hashim Ali. Details are online.

 
Shaw Authors Book Chapter on Leadership

A chapter by Dr. Alicia Shaw, associate professor of educational leadership and department chair, has been published in a new published book by the International Council of Professors of Educational Leadership. Her chapter contributes to a collection of stories from school leaders across the nation who share deeply personal narratives of leadership in today’s challenging educational landscape. Shaw reflects on her own journey in educational leadership.

Barnhouse Studies History of Hospital Community Barnhouse Studies History of Hospital Community

An article by Dr. Lucy Barnhouse, assistant professor of history, has been published in the open-access Yale Journal of Biology and Medicine.  Barnhouse’s article, "Crossroads of Identity: The Late Medieval Evolutions of a Hospital Community," recontextualizes the history of a hospital community outside Mainz, Germany, arguing for evidence of a continuous commitment towards care for the sick and socially vulnerable.

 
Brown Addresses Issues in Two Presentations

Dr. Angelo Brown, assistant professor of criminology, made a presentation at the South Dakota Law Review Symposium on the impact of artificial intelligence on administration of criminal justice in Native American Indian country. He also spoke at the DecARcerate conference in Little Rock concerning laws that lead to more harm, and reforms that are needed to improve community and law enforcement officer safety.

Rolland Discusses Research with Audubon Society Rolland Discusses Research with Audubon Society

Dr. Virginie Rolland, professor of quantitative wildlife ecology, summarized her 14 years of bluebird research at A-State during a 45-minute public address. Rolland was an invited featured speaker for the monthly series sponsored by the Audubon Society of Central Arkansas. Her presentation, now available on YouTube, was titled "Are bluebirds equipped to face climate change."
