Two of Naderi’s Book Chapters are Published
Dr. Ehsan Naderi, assistant professor of electrical engineering and program director, is first and corresponding author for two recently published book chapters. In the Wiley-IEEE chapter, the authors proposed a remedial action scheme powered by artificial intelligence, to counter false data injection (FDI) cyberattacks targeting modern power systems. In the CRC chapter, the authors analyzed FDI cyberattacks where adversaries stealthily manipulate smart meter data to target power to various components.

Neuman-Lee and Rolland Co-Author Article
Dr. Lori Neuman-Lee (left), associate professor of physiology, and Dr. Virginie Rolland (right), professor of quantitative wildlife ecology, are co-authors of a research paper for which advisee and Ph.D. candidate Jennifer Terry is lead author. Their article in the Journal of Experimental Biology found that acute stress triggers a protein-based immune response in a freshwater turtle species, although females who must save energy to produce eggs cannot maintain this response as long as males.

Johnston is Latest PROPS Award Recipient
Congratulations to Brandy Johnston, treasurer, who is the latest recipient of the Proudly Recognizing our Pack Staff (PROPS) Award. Johnston, who joined the university staff in 2002, became treasurer in 2017. Nominators called her an excellent role model who treats others with great respect. She takes the time to explain procedures and the accompanying logic, but she also has an open mind toward others’ opinions. Her interview is online.

McLaughlin and Abernathy Handle Design for Link
Claire Abernathy (left), professor, and Jeff McLaughlin (right), associate professor, theatre, served as designers for The Link Theatre Co. production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Abernathy was costume designer, while McLaughlin designed the scenery and properties. In addition, they collaborated on the lighting design. The Link Theatre Co. aims to create compelling musicals, plays, concerts, and other cultural experiences while engaging Broadway, university, local and regional talent.

Salo Selected for Military Writers Guild
Dr. Edward Salo, professor of history and department chair, has been selected for membership in the Military Writers Guild, a global network for service members, veterans, civilian analysts, and writers who advocate for, collaborate on, and promote writing about military affairs, national security and defense. Through its members, the Military Writers Guild encourages an open dialogue from diverse perspectives to support the study of military affairs, spread knowledge of the military profession, and increase the assistance available to those writing in the national security space.
