Hoeckley and Students Perform Recital in Atlanta
Dr. Stephanie Hoeckley, assistant professor of flute, performed alongside her students this summer in Atlanta at the National Flute Convention, which attracted flutists from 37 countries. Together with the Arkansas Flute Society, a non-profit organization she co-founded, they presented a recital honoring Arkansas composer Florence Price. The 35-member ensemble included flutists from across the state and was selected to perform through a highly competitive proposal process.

Hill Writes Article on Liquidity Management
An article by Dr. Matthew Hill, associate professor of finance and associate dean, has been published in the Atlantic Economic Journal. Hill’s research documents a substantial and persistent rise in liquid assets held by U.S.-based companies. His findings underscore the importance of liquidity management as a critical driver of corporate resilience following macroeconomic shocks. His article also encourages boards, investors and policymakers to be attentive regarding corporations’ liquidity strategies.

Johnson-Leslie and Leslie Present AI Research
Dr. Natalie Johnson-Leslie, professor of secondary education, and Dr. H. Steve Leslie, associate professor of business communication and associate dean, presented at the Association of Teacher Educators Conference. They discussed how generative artificial intelligence can be used to support qualitative research and professional growth. Findings from their case study highlight ChatGPT’s potential to enhance reflective practice, amplify teacher voices, and transform the way educators interpret qualitative data.

Aghayeeabianeh’s Research is Published
A research article by Dr. Banafsheh Aghayeeabianeh, assistant professor of sociology, has been published in the journal Mental Health & Prevention. In the article, “The Role of Social and Economic Inequality in Shaping Antisocial Personality Traits,” she explores how structural inequalities, both social and economic, interact with individual and familial factors to influence the development of antisocial personality traits in youth. Lewis to Serve as Faculty Athletics Representative
Dr. Mark Lewis, assistant professor of business law, has been appointed as Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) by Chancellor Todd Shields. The FAR is the liaison between academics and athletics at A-State, as well as to the NCAA and the Sun Belt Conference. Lewis, who has twice earned the Excellence in Teaching Award in the Griffin College of Business, is a two-time nominee as A-State Athletics’ Sun Belt Conference Faculty of the Year.
