Salo Discusses Weather’s Impact on Military
An article by Dr. Edward Salo, professor of history and department chair, was published in The Broadside, the Council on Geostrategy’s magazine of maritime affairs in the 21st century, produced in cooperation with the Royal Navy Strategic Studies Centre. Given the impact of more intense weather events on global military planning and strategy, he argues that modern forces must integrate storm resilience, both physical and cyber, into operational planning.

Pait is Principle Reviewer for New Textbook
Arianne Pait, director of clinical services, A-State Speech and Hearing Center, serves as the principle reviewer for a new textbook, which is titled Artificial Intelligence, Automation, and Extended Reality in Speech-Language Pathology: Integrating Technology into Clinical Practice, published by Plural Publishing. This collaboration was made possible by her ongoing research in the field of artificial intelligence and dyslexia.

Bruce Presents on Concussions and Veterans
Dr. Scott Bruce, professor of athletic training and director of research, is an invited co-guest editor for a special issue of Brain Sciences, "Advances in Assessment and Training of Perceptual-Motor Performance.” Bruce also presented at the National Athletic Trainers’ Association’s Clinical Symposia and AT Expo on “The Role of Concussion History and Combat Experience Upon Veterans’ Suicide Ideation and Mental Health.” He co-chairs the Veterans’ Suicide Prevention Project.

Wimpy Addresses Elections Data Summit
Dr. Cameron Wimpy, associate professor of political science, department chair, and director, Institute for Rural Initiatives, was a speaker at the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s Data Summit in Cambridge, Mass. His presentation centered around data-driven solutions for comprehending the rural-urban spectrum of election administration in the United States. The commission is an independent, bipartisan commission whose mission is to help election officials improve election administration.

Brown Presents on Civil Rights Act Title VI
Dr. Angelo Brown, assistant professor of criminology, recently presented at the annual meeting of the Association for the Study of Law, Culture, and the Humanities at Georgetown Law. His presentation title was “The Application of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act to Stifle Non-Violent Activism on Campus.” One of his comments on Sweden was highlighted in an article from Epoch Times.
