Hudson Studies Data for Workforce Initiative

Dr. Gail Hudson, professor of marketing, made a presentation at the Be Pro Be Proud National Conference in Bentonville. Hudson, who is conducting data analysis for the Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop surveys through the Delta Center for Economic Development, explained how the data collection process works and what the data will reveal about workforce talent. She and her team collect data in Arkansas and South Carolina.

Desai’s Work on Crypto Issues is Published Desai’s Work on Crypto Issues is Published

A paper by Dr. Hrishikesh Desai, assistant professor of accounting, has been published in the Bloomberg BNA Tax Management Memorandum. The article concerns crypto record-keeping technologies for tax professionals and the challenges they face with getting their clients to adopt these technologies. Also, he is co-author of a paper featured on Columbia Law School Blue Sky Blog regarding pros and cons of disclosing news in distressed organizations.

 
Parker Presents on Design Entrepreneurship

Leslie Parker, assistant professor of graphic design, presented a paper titled “Design Entrepreneurship for the Rural University Student,” at VisCom 36, a visual communication conference of practitioners and scholars, in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Her peer-reviewed paper, which was accepted for plenary presentation, explored artistic and entrepreneurial pedagogies, methods and outcomes within a critical framework. She joined the faculty in 2015.

Flores Sigg Completes Study for Ph.D. Flores Sigg Completes Study for Ph.D.

Congratulations to Dr. Santiago Flores Sigg, Campus Querétaro, who completed his Ph.D. in theoretical linguistics at the Autonomous University of Querétaro, where he also completed his master's. His dissertation topic was “The Filipino Lexicon in the XVIII Century Drawn from the General History of  J. J. Delgado." Flores Sigg, who will be assistant professor this fall, has served as an adjunct and assisted students with English proficiency.

 
Salo’s Research Looks at Cultural Heritage

Two articles by Dr. Edward Salo, associate professor of history, were published in National Interest, a publication of the Center for the National Interest. The first article dealt with how U.S. efforts to protect cultural heritage at the start of World War I can serve as a model for diplomatic efforts in Ukraine and the second article explored the weaponization of heritage in the current Russian-Ukraine war.
