Article Analyzes Family Business Restructuring Article Analyzes Family Business Restructuring

An article co-authored by Dr. Erick Chang (left) and Dr. Sharon James (right), associate professors of management, has been published in Family Business Review, a peer-reviewed journal for family business researchers. Their article gives evidence about potential conflicts between family and institutional owners during decisions to engage in restructuring activity. Family business research has not previously considered the influence of significant institutional investor ownership in family-controlled firms.

 
Hendershot's Latest Work to be Published

Numerous articles by Dr. Cyndy Hendershot, who died June 19 following a sustained illness, were published in professional publications during her career. The professor of English also was author of five books, plus two textbooks. Her most recent publication, an essay on the film, "The Shape of Water," has been accepted for Cold War II: Hollywood's Renewed Obsession with Russia, a collection to be published in December by the University Press of Mississippi.

Williams Steps into New Responsibilities Williams Steps into New Responsibilities

Congratulations to Dr. Lonnie Williams, special assistant to the chancellor, who will have new responsibilities on campus beginning in July. Williams, a member of A-State's staff since 2003, has been appointed interim vice chancellor for the division of Diversity and Community Engagement by Chancellor Kelly Damphousse. Williams succeeds Dr. Maurice Gipson, who is departing for a similar position at the University of Missouri. Details are in an online announcement.

 
Childhood Staff Members Write Children's Story Childhood Staff Members Write Children's Story

Childhood Services staff Melissa Sutton (left), program coordinator, and Leslie Corbell (right), program specialist, co-authored a social story for child care staff and families to use with helping children feel safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. “My Teacher Wears a Mask” was co-authored with individuals with the UAMS Research and Evaluation Division and funded by a division of the state Department of Human Services. The story is online.

 
Glasco to Direct Procurement Services

Lisa Glasco has been appointed interim director of the Office of Procurement Services at Arkansas State University, following the recent retirement of Carol Barnhill, announced Dr. Russ Hannah, senior associate vice chancellor for finance/associate chief financial officer. Glasco joined the Procurement Services staff at A-State in August 2000. In the new role, she will manage university's initiatives in procurement services, contract administration and strategic sourcing. Details are online.
