Peers Select Barnhill for National Recognition

Carol Barnhill, director of procurement services, is recipient of this year's David H. Lord Cooperative Purchasing Award, given by E&I Cooperative Services. Barnhill was selected by her industry peers in recognition of her innovative spirit, impeccable leadership and unwavering commitment to the procurement profession. Lord, the former E&I president, presented the award during the National Association of Educational Procurement annual meeting in Orlando.

Salo and Students Prepare Historic Register Listing Salo and Students Prepare Historic Register Listing

Dr. Edward Salo, assistant professor of history, and students from his architectural history class teamed with the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program to prepare forms to list the Blytheville Air Force Base Strategic Air Command (SAC) Alert and Weapons Storage Areas Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. The National Park Service found that the district is noteworthy for preservation as an example of the SAC's response to nuclear threat during the Cold War.

 
United Way Commends Provence for Service

Katey Provence, coordinator of student services in the Leadership Center, received the Distinguished Service Award from the United Way of Northeast Arkansas during the annual luncheon for volunteers and donors. The award, presented to one volunteer for exemplary service to the United Way campaign, was recognized for her work with A-State United Way, the on-campus Student United Way group and its service events.

Bahn Recognized with Team Player Award Bahn Recognized with Team Player Award

Robert Bahn, business consultant in the Small Business and Technology Development Center, received the Team Player Award during the recent recognition ceremony for distinguished staff performance.  Bahn is known for his innovative ideas that help the SBTDC accomplish its mission of helping people start and grow small businesses. His commitment to his small business clients and resource partners makes him an excellent consultant.

 
Rucker wins Rookie of the Year Citation

Justin Rucker, broadcast production specialist in the Department of Media, was recognized with the Rookie of the Year Award. Since July, he has done the job of a chief engineer along with the job for which he was hired. Rucker cares about the well-being of the students, and provides the model of what a good engineer should be, proactive in ensuring that equipment is always ready when needed.
