JONESBORO, AR – Audience members at KASU (91.9 FM) Radio’s next Bluesday Tuesday concert will hear the award-winning Reba Russell Band performing live blues at the Newport Country Club ballroom, 703 Walker Drive, Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.

Russell possesses one of the most powerful, mature and emotion-laden voices in the blues.  Backed by a solid combo of veteran Memphis musicians, she is annually in demand to perform on the main stage at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, AR. The Reba Russell Band has played at   the International Blues Festival in Eutin, Germany and the Notodden Blues Festival in Oslo, Norway.

On the Memphis scene for over 25 years, Russell has won three Premiere Vocalist Awards from the Memphis Chapter of the National Recording Arts and Sciences and has released five independent CDs in the past seven years.  Reba also works regularly in Memphis studios as a background vocalist. Among her proudest recordings are those for B.B. King, Lucero, Earl Thomas, Johnny Rawls, Jim Dickinson, Jimmy Thackery, Tracy Nelson and U2.

KASU station manager Mike Doyle said, “Reba and her band have been good friends to KASU for over a decade, playing at a number of our events in Jonesboro, Paragould and Newport. It’s been two years since we’ve booked her for Bluesday Tuesday and we hear that a caravan from Jonesboro will be heading down to Newport on Nov. 13. Bluesday Tuesday fans need to reserve tables at the Country Club.”

KASU Bluesday Tuesday concerts, held the second Tuesday night of each month at the Newport Country Club, are sponsored by C and C Distributors, Harris Ford, and ASU-Newport. Admission is free; no membership or coverage is required. KASU passes the hat for the band. For more information, contact Mike Doyle at 870-972-3486 or email mdoyle@astate.edu.
