Entries Now Being Accepted for HPMEC Short Story Contest

PIGGOTT – Students will soon have an opportunity to compete in the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center’s (HPMEC) fifth annual short story contest this spring.

The statewide competition is open to all undergraduate students currently enrolled in an Arkansas college or university, regardless of major. The only stipulation is the submitted material must be an unpublished fictional short story on any subject matter and no more than 2,500 words in length.

All submissions are due to the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center no later than Friday, April 6. Winners will be notified by Tuesday, May 1. They will receive a free spot in June’s writers’ retreat and will be invited to give a public reading at the museum.

Past winners of the contest include Anushah Jiwani of Hendrix College, Mike Smith of Lyon College, Justin Lee Hunsperger of the University of Central Arkansas, and Emily Hill of Hendrix College.
