DeProw is AVC for Assessment and Accreditation

05/02/2019

JONESBORO – Summer DeProw becomes a permanent assistant vice chancellor for assessment and accreditation at Arkansas State University, Provost Lynita Cooksey announced this week.

DeProw moved into the title of interim AVC in the fall of 2017 prior to Arkansas State’s most recent Higher Learning Commission (HLC) site visit in the spring of 2018.  Her work in revising and documenting assessment efforts was an important factor in A-State’s exemplary report from HLC.

“Summer has become not only one of our campus leaders in areas related to assessment and accreditation, she has also become well-known across the region and country,” Cooksey said.  “I’m very pleased to announce her permanent status in her positions.”

Arkansas State received accreditation renewal with HLC in June 2018, placing the university back on track toward its next full site visit in 2023-24.

"We made great progress toward the concerns HLC had expressed after their last visit in 2014,” Cooksey said. “The team was particularly impressed with our progress in the area of assessment.”

Along with continuing duties as a liaison to HLC, directing campus-wide assessment, and testing services, DeProw made a presentation on A-State’s assessment progress at the recent HLC conference in Chicago and has served as a consultant at Arkansas Northeastern College in Blytheville and AT Still University in Mesa, Ariz.

Joining Arkansas State in 2015, DeProw is the elected President of the Arkansas Association for the Assessment of Collegiate Learning (AAACL), and she was recently selected as an HLC Peer Reviewer.  Active in the local community, she is vice chair of the "Talent Taskforce" subcommittee of Jonesboro Unlimited.
