ASU SBTDC, Batesville Chamber of Commerce to help local businesses with “Website in a Day” seminar June 12

05/29/2013

JONESBORO, Ark. — The Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) and Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce will offer a special workshop, “Website in a Day,” for local small business owners and their employees.  “Website in a Day” will be held at the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce, 409 Vine Street in Batesville on Wednesday, June 12, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Approximately 97 percent of Internet users look online for information about local services – from restaurants to hardware stores, plumbers to dentists. Yet, at least half of all small businesses do not have websites.

“Website in a Day” will teach business owners how to build effective, easy-to-maintain websites with free online tools. The hands-on training will guide participants step-by-step through creating an attractive, functional, five-page website using ASU SBTDC-provided laptops.

Space is limited to 15 attendees and pre-registration is required. To register, contact Mandi Curtwright at the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce at (870) 793-2378 or e-mail Mandi.curtwright@mybatesville.org.

Registration fee is $50 per person, $40 for Batesville Chamber of Commerce or Main Street Batesville members and $35 for UACCB faculty, staff or students.

“To compete in their local markets as well as in the global economy, Arkansas businesses need to embrace the Internet. We are delighted to work with the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce to strengthen small businesses by sharing tools, skills and knowledge they can use to reach more customers online and increase sales,” said Herb Lawrence, ASU SBTDC Center Director.

The event is co-sponsored by the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Batesville, Citizens Bank, First Community Bank, First National Banking Company, Liberty Bank of Arkansas and Merchant & Planters Bank.

The ASU Small Business and Technology Development Center is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration through a partnership with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Business and other institutions of higher education.
