A-State Mathematics and Statistics Department Announces Area High School Contest Winners
JONESBORO, Ark. — The Arkansas State University Mathematics and Statistics Department along with the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics announced the winners of the 36th annual Northeast Arkansas Regional Math Contest.
Ten different high schools throughout the region were represented by 140 students in the March 1 regional. Students enrolled in any one of the following courses of Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or Statistics competed. Those who placed first, second or third were invited to participate in the State Math Contest April 26 on the campus of University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
Participants in the state contest placing first, second, and third in Algebra II, Pre-calculus, Calculus, and Statistics received scholarships for $600, $400, and $300, respectively. Valley View’s Yeongjoon Hwang finished third in Algebra II in the state contest.
