A-State Campus Adjusts for Weekend as Weather Continues Grip

02/12/2021

JONESBORO – During the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13-14, only inclement weather essential staff will be on campus.  Student services for residents will be operating under brunch hours.  The Red W.O.L.F. Center will be open with limited weekend hours.  Anyone who must be on campus should watch carefully for persistent patches of ice on sidewalks and roadways.

Facilities Management inclement weather essential staff will continue working on the removal of ice accumulation this week, and prepare campus surfaces for the potential of another round of winter weather Sunday through Monday evening.

A-State’s chancellor, provost, and chief operating officer continue to monitor the weather conditions and will have further updates during the weekend related to the start of next week’s classes and on-campus activities.

For the weekend of Feb. 13-14, essential services for students living on campus remain operational, with Dining Services utilizing brunch hours at Acansa Dining Hall.  The Dean B. Ellis Library will be open.

The Red W.O.L.F. Center will open from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

As a continuing reminder to campus residents, please be careful as you are walking on campus during the weekend.  Accumulated ice is unlike snow, and while Facilities Maintenance crews are working diligently to remove the winter precipitation, until temperatures rise expect ice and sleet to remain on some surfaces.  Be very cautious of areas cleared of ice that could re-freeze with the extreme lows expected over the weekend.

With the extreme cold forecast for the weekend, residents in The Village, Academic Circle, and other residential areas are asked to check their email account for instructions related to avoiding frozen or broken pipes due to the winter temps.

Due to weather related travel difficulty, the Monday, Feb. 15, campus visit by a finalist for the Dean of Nursing and Health Professions position will be postponed.  Check Daily Digest on Monday for further details.

At this time, next Tuesday’s campus employee COVID vaccination clinics at First National Bank Arena will be conducted as scheduled.  For employees scheduled for the day or evening sessions, watch your official A-State email for updates.
