The A-State Concert Choir has long been known in the southern United States for choral excellence. The A-State Choirs are currently led by Dr. Ryan Sullivan and Dr. Colleen McNickle. In June 2023, the Concert Choir made its debut in Portugal as part of the Lisbon International Music Festival with performances in Lisbon, Batalha, and Porto. Past A-State choirs have performed at National ACDA conferences, at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, as well as international tours in countries such as the Czech Republic, Poland, and Ireland. A-State graduates have held state, regional, and national leadership positions in professional music organizations. We are proud of the impact that members of our choirs have made on their musical communities in Arkansas and throughout the country.

All singers who want to major in music must audition on the designated dates or by appointment by preparing a memorized solo in a classical, musical theatre, or folk style. The audition will also include sight singing, pitch memory, and an interview. Please see the Music Department Auditions Page for more information. The Choral Scholarship Application Form can be found here. If you have further questions, please email Dr. Ryan Sullivan.

To become a member of a choral ensemble, an audition is required. A-State students of every major are encouraged to audition for a choral ensemble. To secure your audition spot, please complete the following steps:

Step 1: Complete an Audition Form online.

Step 2: Select an audition time using this sign-up.

Step 3: Bring a hardcopy score of a prepared solo (art song, folk song, hymn, etc.) to your audition. An accompanist will be provided. We will ask you to perform some brief sight-singing and tonal memory exercises at your audition.

    Special notes:

Remember that all students are placed in an ensemble based on their choral experience and schedule.
