Dr. Sudeepa Bhattacharyya, associate professor of bioinformatics and data science, gave the keynote presentation for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Omics Day Conference in Washington, D.C. The integration of multi-omics data provides insight into complex disease mechanisms and biomarker discovery. Bhattacharyya presented findings related to the biochemical underpinnings of depression heterogeneity, along with comparative analysis of metabolic alterations observed with various anti-depressant treatments versus psychotherapy.

Dr. Xiankui (Bill) Hu, professor of finance, and chair, Economics and Finance, has been invited to serve as the leading guest editor for a special issue titled "Financial Modeling with Spreadsheets, Python, AI, and More" in the Journal of Risk and Financial Management. Hu and the journal are seeking contributions from researchers, practitioners, and experts in the fields that explore the intersection of financial modeling with modern technologies.

Dominique Hallett, government information and STEM librarian, Ellis Library, is co-editor of the recently published book, What Can U.S. Government Information Do for Me?: Librarians Explain the Discovery and Use of Public Data, Documents, Maps and Images. Her collaboration with Tom Diamond of Louisiana State University resulted in this publication geared toward librarians, library personnel, and researchers. It guides readers on finding and applying information from government resources.

Research by Dr. Hrishikesh Desai, assistant professor of accounting, has been published in The CPA Journal. His topic concerns the auditing of some cases involving blockchain use, in the context of Public Company Accounting Oversight Board standards. He also recently wrote an article for WalletHub about the availability of 0% credit cards, and two articles for MoneyGeek on credit card rewards and life insurance.

Dr. Kristen Ruccio (left), assistant professor, and Leslie Reed (right), instructor, English, presented at the Ozarks Symposium in Missouri. Ruccio discussed rhetorics about the ivory-billed woodpecker and how the possibility of a declaration of its extinction has led to believers who think breeding populations of the bird still exist. Reed explained how a Facebook group she initiated about the Strangers Home community in Lawrence County has led to a resurgence of interest in the community and its history.
