Dr. Kristin Leitterman, assistant professor of oboe, is author of the book Relax and Take a Deep Breath: The Lucarelli Approach to Oboe Playing, published last month by Carl Fischer.  The book captures the essence of virtuoso Bert Lucarelli’s approach to oboe playing, covering a wide variety of topics related to his philosophies on oboe and music performance. Leitterman is one of Lucarelli’s longtime students.

Clint Vogus, instructor in management, is author of The Right Recipe for Entrepreneurial Success, published by Innovative Ink Publishing, a Division of Kendall Hunt Publishing. Vogus shares his perspectives on entrepreneurial success from his years of experience as a manager, business consultant, educator and researcher. The book shows how one can effectively build an entrepreneurial business based on the individual's personal characteristics.

Dr. Tina Gray Teague, professor of entomology and plant science, is project director of a USDA-NRCS Arkansas Technical Assistance grant to continue her research into best management practices, including reduced tillage, use of winter cover crops, and improved irrigation water management. Teague also holds a joint appointment from the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture – Agricultural Experiment Station, which secured the federal grant to support her work.  Details are online.

A peer-reviewed article by Jody Nutt, assistant professor of medical imaging and radiation sciences, has been published in the national Radiation Therapist journal. Titled "Effect of Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT) on Radiation Therapy Imaging," Her research compares radiation therapy patients undergoing SGRT treatment compared to patients undergoing conventional radiation therapy treatment. She also analyzes data regarding the quantity of imaging studies necessary based on use of the technology.

A research paper by Dr. Mohammad A. Alam (left), associate professor of chemistry, Dr. Robert Shields (right), assistant professor of microbiology and Dr. David Gilmore, emeritus professor of microbiology, has been published in the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry. Synthesis and a number of in vitro and in vivo studies have been conducted to find potential antibiotics to treat methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant enterococci.
