Medina-Bolivar Hosts Puerto Rican Teachers at ABI Medina-Bolivar Hosts Puerto Rican Teachers at ABI

For a second year, Dr. Fabricio Medina-Bolivar, professor of plant metabolic engineering, spoke and led laboratory activities for K-14 teachers at the agricultural biotechnology workshop hosted by the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, Barranquitas campus. Afterward, he gave biotechnology training on medicinally active plants in his Arkansas Biosciences Institute lab to four Puerto Rican high school teachers. The project is supported by a USDA Professional Development for Agricultural Literacy grant.

 
Muzatko is Lead Author of E-Commerce Research

Dr. Steven Muzatko, associate professor and H.B. Foster Bowdon Endowed Chair of Accounting, is lead author of an article published in Internet Research. His study examines the relationship between the timeliness in announcing a data breach discovery and consumer trust in an e-commerce company, as well as trust rebuilding. The results help e-commerce companies understand how trust violation containment design and repair processes can protect customer retention and value following a data breach.

Sitzer’s Dissertation Leads to State Register Listing Sitzer’s Dissertation Leads to State Register Listing

The dissertation completed by Dr. Jeannie Sitzer (right), when she was in the heritage studies Ph.D. program, was featured in the Arkansas Catholic newspaper. Dr. Ed Salo (left), associate professor of history, and associate director of the program, was her adviser and dissertation director. The article is about her work documenting the history of her church at Weiner and getting it on the Arkansas Register of Historic Places.

 
James is Latest Honoree in PROPS Program

Congratulations to Erika James, student assistant specialist, Ellis Library, on her selection by Staff Senate as the August winner of the PROPS (Proudly Recognizing Our Pack Staff) recognition. James was commended by her nominator for her effectiveness with hiring an excellent staff of student employees for the library. She also assists students at the library’s service desk with a wide variety of information requests. Her interview is online.

Perkins Advises Students with Film Festival Entry Perkins Advises Students with Film Festival Entry

Galen Perkins, instructor in creative media production, was faculty adviser for a group of students whose work was selected for screening at Filmland Arkansas Showcase, conducted by the Arkansas Cinema Society at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in Little Rock. Their work, “Legacy: Black Excellence in Jonesboro,” was directed by Kayla Lindsey. Other students involved were Colby Wood, James Lowery, Jacob Osborn, Reace Barnett and Connor Rutelonis.
