Henderson and Jackson Among Leaders at ArkAAN

Dr. Pamela Henderson (left), associate director, and Dr. Melissa Jackson (right), director, University Advising Center, are among the five individuals facilitating sessions at the Arkansas Academic Advising Network (ArkAAN) Summer Institute this week at the Red Wolf Convention Center. Henderson also serves as president of the organization; Jackson has served on the executive board. ArkAAN is comprised of professional academic advisers from higher education institutions throughout the state. Details are online.

Brown Addresses Justice System Issues Brown Addresses Justice System Issues

Dr. Angelo Brown, assistant professor of criminology, spoke at the 18th International Conference on Interdisciplinary Social Sciences, conducted by Oxford Brookes University at Oxford, U.K. In his presentation, he discussed a framework for how the justice system can respond to current social change in a more holistic manner. Brown also was interviewed recently by Little Rock television station KARK for his opinion on the FBI's statistics regarding violent crime in Arkansas.

 
Folsom and Camp Teach Health Studies in China

Dr. Audrey Folsom (left), assistant professor, clinical laboratory sciences, and Jessica Camp (right), assistant professor, health sciences, spent almost six weeks in China teaching health studies courses at Anhui Medical University in Hefei, Anhui Province. Some of the Anhui students will be coming to Jonesboro next year to spend their senior year taking courses at A-State. This is part of the growing collaboration between the two institutions.

Esparza Co-Authors National Health Systems Study Esparza Co-Authors National Health Systems Study

Dr. Saul Esparza, assistant professor of management and strategy, A-State Campus Querétaro, is co-author of a paper recently published in Horizonte Sanitario. Their research provides a comparative network analysis of national health macrosystems in two socially, economically and culturally distant countries, Mexico and China. He and his colleague from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México compare various aspects of the two countries national health systems.

 
New Staff Senate Leaders Take Office

The A-State Staff Senate has selected new members of its executive committee. Congratulations to the incoming president, Ian Buchanan (right), University Advising Center; vice president, Alison Mays, Human Resources and Administration; vice president for communication, Johnathan Reaves, Media and Communication; secretary, LaShea Robinson, Teacher Education; and treasurer, Christina Kostick, Financial Aid. The past president, Madeline Ragland, Academic Affairs, will continue to serve on the committee.
