Music Faculty to Present Performances Music Faculty to Present Performances

Six members of the Department of Music faculty will perform in the Faculty Recital Series Showcase this evening in Fowler Center. Those on the program are Dr. Juli Buxbaum, assistant professor, horn; Dr. Erin Cameron, assistant professor, clarinet; Matthew Carey, assistant professor, voice; Dr. Kristin Leitterman, assistant professor, oboe; Dr. Ryan Sullivan, assistant professor, voice; and Dr. Ed Owen, professor, tuba. Hall Wins Kappa Tau Alpha Adviser Award

Congratulations to Dr. Holly Kathleen Hall, professor of strategic communication, who received a major honor from Kappa Tau Alpha national honor society. Hall was recognized as winner of the William H. Taft Outstanding Adviser Award during the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s annual awards ceremony. Initiated into KTA as an A-State student, Hall also has served as vice president and president of the national organization.

Steimel is Teaching in School of Nursing

A-State welcomes new faculty member Dr. Katlyn Steimel, assistant professor of nursing, who finished the accelerated BSN program at A-State, and doctorate in family nursing practice at Arkansas. She has worked at St. Bernards in critical care, specializing in post-operative cardiac patients, and as director of the Arkansas Rural Nursing Education Consortium LPN to RN program. Steimel’s graduate research focused on identifying post-partum depression in the primary care setting.

Brown Joins Faculty in Criminology Brown Joins Faculty in Criminology

Another new faculty member is Dr. Angelo Brown, assistant professor of criminology. Brown recently completed his Ph.D. at Washington State, and previously earned his master’s at Arizona State. His primary teaching and research interest is in criminal justice policy and policing from a comparative and intersectional perspective. Outside of work, he enjoys outdoor activities in nature, and martial arts.

 
Shrable is New Faculty Member in CLS

Welcome to Jennifer Shrable, new assistant professor in clinical laboratory science. She earned her bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory sciences and her master’s in health sciences, along with a graduate certificate in healthcare management, all at A-State. For the last 12 years, Shrable has been on the staff of Arkansas Methodist Medical Center’s clinical laboratory, with the past year serving as hematology supervisor.
