Art Degrees — Undergraduate

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art

The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs are designed to prepare students for professional careers as a classroom art teacher, graphic designer, or studio artist. The BFA in Art (with emphasis in Studio Art or Art Education) is the initial professional degree, and it is the requisite degree for the student who plans to pursue a studio-oriented post-baccalaureate degree.

Music Degrees — Undergraduate

Bachelor of Music Education – Instrumental Music

As appropriate for elementary and secondary licensure in music education, the program of study for the Bachelor of Music Education degree includes coursework and field experiences at the elementary and secondary levels. Courses specific to instrumental teaching techniques and literature prepare students for entry into the field.

Bachelor of Music Education – Vocal Music

Bachelor of Music

The Bachelor of Music degree is available with emphases in Performance or Composition.

Students in the performance emphasis areas will develop comprehensive capabilities in the major performing medium including the ability to work independently to prepare performances at the highest possible level; knowledge of applicable solo and ensemble literature; and orientation to and experience with the fundamentals of pedagogy.

Students with an emphasis in composition will demonstrate achievement of the highest possible level of skill in the use of basic concepts, tools, techniques, and procedures to develop a composition from concept to finished product. This involves the competency to work with both electronic and acoustic media; work with a variety of forms, styles, and notations; and apply principles of scoring appropriate to particular compositions.

Music Degrees — Graduate

Master of Music

The Master of Music degree is a 30-hour program with advanced study in instrumental, vocal, or keyboard performance, composition, piano performance and pedagogy, instrumental or choral conducting, or collaborative piano performance.

Master of Music Education

The Master of Music Education degree consists of 32 hours of advanced study in music and education.  The comprehensive curriculum is designed for both public school educators as well as for those who plan to continue study at the doctoral level.

Theatre Degrees — Undergraduate

Bachelor of Arts in Theatre

The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre is a 120 credit hour degree program designed to provide a general review of the theatre art form with specific coursework in acting, directing, design, literature and history. The BA degree program serves as an entrance program for all theatre majors.
