    After You Apply

Due to the large number of applications, only the students we wish to interview will be contacted. If you are contacted for an interview, you will be given a time and date that works around your class schedule to meet with the supervisor. To help you prepare, Career Services has helpful hints to help you “Nail the Interview.”
If you are not contacted, please continue to check this page for new positions.

    Departments

Student assistants work in various areas of the library, which include: Administration & Front Office, Research & Educational Support, Library Technology, Collection Management, Metadata & Discovery Services, and Access & Delivery Services. The hiring supervisor of each unit will contact the chosen candidate for an interview. After the candidate has been selected for the position, the Student Assistant Specialist will assist with the paperwork process.

    Documents Needed

Once hired, documentation will need to be provided to establish identity (i.e. driver’s license) and employment authorization (i.e. social security card or birth certificate). A list of acceptable documents can be found at the Human Resources website under the New Hire Forms for Student Employees (page 3 of 3).

    Salary

Regular part-time students’ salaries start off at minimum wage, which is currently $11 per hour. Work Study students are paid through the Federal Work Study Program.

    Federal Work Study

Federal Work Study is awarded through financial aid. Students must complete their FAFSA and indicate they are interested in becoming a work study student. Funds are limited and applying to be a work study student does not guarantee a job. More information about the Federal Work Study Program can be found at the Financial Aid website under Frequently Asked Questions.

    Payroll Schedule

Payroll information for students can be found at the Payroll Services website under the Hourly Employees section.
