Theatre Announces Cast and Crew for '1959 Pink Thunderbird'

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University Theatre will present "1959 Pink Thunderbird," a comedy by James McLure, Friday and Saturday, April 14-15, and Monday through Wednesday, April 17-19.

The production, under the direction of Marc Williams, assistant professor of theatre, will begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the Simpson Theatre at Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr.  A dessert reception to meet the company will follow the opening night performance on April 14.

The publisher's synopsis describes the story: In Maynard, Texas, local hero Roy Caulder has returned from the Vietnam War.  While his prized 1959 pink Thunderbird runs as good as ever, he finds his hometown profoundly changed. As Roy reconnects with his brother over a case of beer, Roy’s wife Elizabeth wonders if their marriage will ever be the same again.  James McLure’s enduring glimpse at the racy side of small town life.

The cast includes Jaelyn Epps, a senior theatre major from Little Rock, as Elizabeth Caulder; Irene Taylor, a senior theatre major from Birdtown, as Hattie Dealing; Amber Millsap, a junior theatre major from Harrison, as Amy Lee Fullernoy; Caleb Silvey, a senior theatre minor from Magnolia, as Roy Caulder; Davis Campbell, a sophomore theatre major from Batesville, as Ray Caulder; and Davis Polston, a senior theatre major from Searcy, as Cletis Fullernoy.

Scenic and lighting designer as well as technical director will be Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of theatre. Assistant lighting designer and light board operator will be Hannah Martin, a junior theatre major from Blytheville.  Sound designer will be Tyler Gillespie, a senior theatre major from Dumas. Peyton Miller, a freshman theatre major from Paragould, is sound board operator. Eli Webb, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, is as master electrician.  Props master is Emma Watkins, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro. Laura Martin, a post-degree theatre major from Blytheville, is backstage crew.

Claire Abernathy, assistant professor of theatre, is costume designer.  Zac Passmore, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro, is assistant costume designer.  Matthew Stewart, a senior theatre major from White Hall, Hannah Cummins, a senior theatre major from Batesville, and Christa McLean, a freshman theatre major from Sherwood are serving as wardrobe and makeup crew.

Jackson Wu, a junior theatre major from Taipei, Taiwan, is house manager. Hayley Scott, a freshman theatre major from North Little Rock, Katey Little, a junior theatre major from Paragould, and Carson Ecker, a sophomore theatre major from Benton, are assistant stage managers. Stage management duties for the production have been assigned to Alyssa Burleson, a junior theatre major from North Little Rock.

Tickets may be purchased for reserved seating in advance at the Central Box Office in the Convocation Center or by calling 972-ASU1.  Tickets are also available online at tickets.AState.edu.  Reserved seating tickets (if available) may be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance.  Ticket prices are $10 ($8 in advance).

Advance reservations are highly recommended.
