A-State Names Finney Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services

06/16/2016

JONESBORO – Veteran higher education administrator Terry Finney was named assistant vice chancellor for enrollment services at Arkansas State University, Vice Chancellor for Student Services Dr. Rick Stripling announced.

Finney’s position brings together under a single unit services related to recruitment of undergraduate students to A-State with the administration of financial aid and scholarships.

“In the past semester Terry did an outstanding job of directing both areas, and we learned that we can gain a considerable efficiency by realigning these four offices into an operational unit focused on recruiting undergraduates,” Stripling said.

Finney was named interim director of recruiting at Arkansas State in January along with his duties as the director of financial aid.  The new enrollment services office will also oversee the university’s testing center and scholarship disbursement.

By bringing together the two leadership positions under one assistant vice chancellor, Stripling was able to reallocate savings into two additional recruiting positions.

“We’ve not added any administrative overhead, but this allows us to continue a full-time staff member focused on minority recruitment and a full-time recruiter working on bringing students from a broader region to A-State,” Stripling added.

Finney joined A-State in 2008 and has held leadership positions in student services and financial aid at Lyon College, Lambuth College and University of Arkansas.  Among his almost three decades of higher ed experience, Finney has also worked with the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority.
