- About A-State
Marking its first hundred years, Arkansas State University continues to expand in exciting ways.
Dr. Tom Risch
Vice Provost for Research & Technology Transfer and Executive Director of ABI
Professor of Animal Ecology
- BS - 1986 - Environmental Studies, Stockton State College, Pomona, NJ
- MS - 1993 - Wildlife Management, Frostburg State University, Frostburg, MD
- PhD - 1999 - Zoology, Auburn University, Auburn, AL
Dr. Risch's research involves monitored interactions or population dynamics of small mammals and birds. Recent projects have ranged from describing life history traits to assessing vector ecology. Techniques are applied toward human risk assessment for West Nile virus and measured benefits of genetically modified crops using small mammal models. Locally, his research examines distribution and behavior of bats in specific ecoregions of Arkansas and reproductive timing in Eastern Bluebirds. Tom still collaborates on projects with University of Georgia's Savannah River Ecology Laboratory.
