Collaborative Pianist


Emily Trapp Jenkins is an American pianist passionate about opera, vocal music, and musical theatre who currently collaborates with professional singers and instrumentalists around the country. Recent appearances include a regional tour of Franz Schubert’s Die Winterreise with baritone Matthew Carey, a performance at the Music by Women Festival at Mississippi University for Women with oboist & soprano Kristin Leitterman, regional premieres of new works for oboe/voice and piano by Whitney George and Michael-Thomas Fumai, and accompanying productions of Bastien & Bastienne, The Producers,Godspell, and Into the Woods. For six weeks in summer 2019, Jenkins was an adjudicator for the International Piano Performance Examination Committee in Taiwan, where she evaluated over 1,500 beginner through advanced pre-college piano students. 

In addition to her active performance schedule, Jenkins maintains a private home piano studio and is a sought-after K-12 choral accompanist. Previously, she was a full-time Staff Accompanist at South Valley Middle School in Liberty, MO and now regularly collaborates with Jonesboro, AR area middle and high school choirs. She is also an active church musician and worship leader, having served throughout Kansas City and the greater Jonesboro area. As an educator, Jenkins has taught piano students of all ages and levels for over nine years, both in her home studio and at community music schools.

Jenkins is currently serving as a Collaborative Pianist at Arkansas State University, where she works closely with the vocal area, opera productions, and theatre department. She is also the Senior Competition Coordinator for Arkansas Music Teachers Association, having previously held a similar role for the state of Missouri in 2016. Additionally, she is the Music Director at Harrisburg First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg, AR, where she coordinates music for weekly Sunday worship services and conducts the Chancel Choir.

Jenkins holds a Masters of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance and a Bachelors of Arts degree from Goshen College (Goshen, IN). While at UMKC, she was awarded a Keyboard Skills Division Graduate Assistantship, where she instructed group piano classes at all undergraduate levels.
