Engineering Convocation of Scholars Celebration

Braden Reed of Carlisle, was presented The Chancellor’s Scholar Award as well as the 4.0 Scholar Award at the Convocation of Scholars Honors Banquet for Engineering Programs on April 2, 2018. The Chancellor’s Scholar is presented to the graduating senior with the highest overall grade point average for the academic year and the 4.0 Scholar Award is presented to all students graduating with a 4.0 and a minimum of 60 credit hours earned at A-State.

Three students in the engineering program at Arkansas State University were recognized during a Convocation of Scholars honors ceremony as the most outstanding graduates, according to Dr. Brandon Kemp, Interim Associate Dean.

Braden Reed of Carlisle, was presented The Chancellor’s Scholar Award as well as the 4.0 Scholar Award. The Chancellor’s Scholar is presented to the graduating senior with the highest overall grade point average for the academic year and the 4.0 Scholar Award is presented to all students graduating with a 4.0 and a minimum of 60 credit hours earned at A-State.

The departmental awards are presented annually to the top graduating senior in each of the academic degree programs, based on scholarship, leadership and service.

The award recipients and their respective degree programs were:

  • Joshua McLarty of Searcy, Civil Engineering,
  • Hannah Massey of Walnut Ridge, Electrical Engineering, and
  • Braden Reed of Carlisle, Mechanical Engineering

Tamal Sarkar with Dr. Brandon Kemp

Mr. Tamal Sarkar, Engineering graduate student, (right) received an award at the recent Academy of Science meeting held on the campus of Arkansas State University.  Tamal’s poster entitled: Anomalous electrostatic nature of charged particles: An approach towards stable equilibrium in inverted systems was judged Best Graduate Poster in Engineering.  Tamal’s advisor is Dr. Brandon Kemp.
