Our Strategic Approach

To Career Success

A Message from Dean Melody Lo

The business world is evolving so quickly that it can be difficult for the traditional education approach to keep up. At the Neil Griffin College of Business (NGCOB), we've decided to take a new strategic approach to student career success, starting with each student working with the NGCOB career development team to “identify” a specific career path. The students will then be guided to the academic degree program that fits best with their chosen career paths, selecting from an extensive list of co-curricular activities that will allow them to learn the essential skills expected from today's business professionals. The NGCOB will collaborate with the business community, further assisting students in gaining valuable career-related experiences that will serve to reinforce our industry-centric and career-ready curriculum. I look forward to working with the community and its stakeholders to continually seek new paths that will lead to student success, from classroom to career.

Until we meet each other, Go Red Wolves!

Phase 1: Identify a Viable Career Path

Career counselors in the NGCOB will work with each student to identify a viable, fulfilling career path based on their academic strengths, career goals, and personal background and characteristics.

The students will then be guided to the academic degree program that fits best with their chosen career paths. Some of the program options include business analytics, sales leadership, strategic finance, global supply chain management, CPA Exam-Ready accounting, and banking and financial services. Each academic program immerses students in an industry-centric curriculum that leverages community relationships through executive shadowing, alumni networking opportunities, professional mentoring, and guest speakers. In addition, students are encouraged to engage in personalized co-curricular activities that include global internships, leadership experiences, community engaged learning, international immersion / study abroad programs, mentored research, and business plan competitions.

Phase 3: Accomplish Career Success

The first two phases combined prepare students to enter the job market for a fulfilling career, both personally and professionally. The NGCOB will provide career services to students throughout the process, and upon graduation, that include interviewing training and career placement.
