Dr. Melody Lo
Dean of The Neil Griffin College of Business
Melody Lo, Endowed Dean of the Neil Griffin College of Business at Arkansas State University, received her Ph.D. degree from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University in 2001. Prior to joining Arkansas State University in July 2020, Lo served the department chair in Economics at the University of Texas at San Antonio from 2014 – 2019. In her chair position, Lo was instrumental in building successful industry-focused multidisciplinary graduate degree programs, including concentrations in Financial Economics and Business Data Analysis & Forecasting.
As a researcher, Lo’s main research interest is identifying economic stylized behavioral patterns through quantitative analysis, and a large portion of her recent work is interdisciplinary. For example, she has published articles in journals such as Journal of Business & Economic Statistics, American Journal of Political Science, Tourism Management, Journal of International Money and Finance, and World Development. Along with her published articles in scholarly journals, Lo is co-author of an interdisciplinary forthcoming book, “The Empirical Implications of Theoretical Models: Unifying Formal and Empirical Analysis in the Political, Social, and Economic Sciences,” with Cambridge University Press. As a teacher, her teaching interests are Financial Economics and Macroeconomics.
