At Arkansas State University, it is vital for faculty members to engage in scholarship, research and creativity in order to provide contributions to a vibrant university, as this is how we distinguish ourselves from community colleges and four-year teaching institutions. This translates into faculty who are at the forefront of their disciplines and produces better “outside the classroom” opportunities for our students.
Professor of the Month awards will be based on scholarly, research or creative activity that has national and/or international relevance and recognition.
An awarded stipend of $500 will be given to each Professor of the Month, along with a featured video on the A-State website and a campus media highlight. A reception will be held at the end of the academic year to honor the 2016-2017 Professors of the Month, and an overall awardee will be chosen out of this group and recognized with a nominal stipend at the reception.
Self-nominations will not be accepted. There is not a limit on the number of nominees submitted by the nominator. The following are criteria used by the FRAC committee in the selection of the awardees:
Tell us how the nominee fulfills the criteria of the award. Please write this toward an educated lay audience without expertise in the discipline.
- Description of scholarly, research or creative work,
- How this work has been relevant to the discipline,
- And how and why this work has been recognized at the national and/or international level.
